Review Summary: Two nagging issue mar otherwise good stroller
We bought our Indie in 2009. It generally is a good stroller. Unfortunately, for $500 this stroller should not be merely "good."
The other reviews have brought out the nice features. I agree, this is a spacious, attractive piece of equipment.
Our experience has been marred by two very annoying issues.
The canopy is inadequate. Bumbleride very clearly goofed in designing the fulcrum for the canopy arm, and it cannot extend as far forward as required. On walks other than noon, the sun shines right in the baby's face and there is no way to extend the correctly-installed canopy to block the sun. There are two solutions: walk backwards, which we have done, or reinstall the canopy backwards, which we also have done. Backwards, the canopy blocks the sun adequately, although other features don't work. Bumbleride (apparently) fixed this problem in the 2010 model year, but they claim this was an improvement rather than a fix for a serious design defect. They should have recalled the defective canopies, but they didn't.
Second, the front wheel becomes unstable at brisk speeds. If you walk fast (i.e., downhill) or break into a spontaneous jog while the front wheel is not locked in place, beware: you may find you, yourself, and your baby in a heap on the sidewalk. The front wheel literally begins to oscillate or vibrate on the pavement, and the vibration will cause it to jam, all completely without warning. It doesn't make any sense, but it happens every time. Again, a case of the Bumbleride designers completely blowing it. I understand the inherent tipping hazard for swivel wheels, but this is a different animal entirely.

Review Summary: BEST STROLLER with a few technical problems
I researched strollers for the last 5 months of my pregnancy before deciding on the Bumbleride Indie. The reasons I chose it was because I knew what I wanted and it had everything I wanted: car seat adapter, perfect for jogging, smooth ride for all surfaces, a higher range of weight capacity, and a cool hip look. (not to mention a feeling of safety for my son)
Cut to me getting it home.
The color was exactly as I exptected. Not sure what it is called but it was brown and is now discontinued.
It came with an air pump, and foot muff which I thought was awesome and the adapter seemed easy enough.
My husband and I put it together...almost. For some reasone we were under the impression that the canopy could fold almost all the way down and it wouldnt. So it really appeared as though it was made wrong. So I called customer service and they sent a new canopy piece FOR FREE, no questions asked. We got it and it was the same, so we figured out thats just the way it was. In all honesty the canopy does go down pretty far, we just wanted it to go down even further Ha ha.
Ok, got that figured out.
The stroller worked awesome! I loved the feel of it, and it was just as cool as I thought it would be. It folded down to be quite compact which is nice. The harness is really cool and really easy to work. Very refreshing when most car seats are a royal pain. The brake system is easy to use and feels secure. But the best thing I love about this stoller is its ease. Man it takes no effort at all to push it. I can turn on a time and the swivel wheel rocks!
Things that bother me:
The cup holder needs to be removed to fold it down...PAIN.
Folding it down required 2 hands and for me I have to do lots of leaning over to reach the two grips to fold.
On the sides where the canopy snaps to the frame, there are gaps. Not cool when you have Wyoming wind blowing around.
And the pocket at the top would be much cooler if it zipped, that way when I folded it up, all my crap wouldnt fall out of it.
But all in all, I love this stroller. My son is so content in it, and really enjoys going for walks or runs. If I ever have to buy another one, (which I dont think I will because this one still looks brand new after a year) I will definitely get a Bumbleride.
